The operational logistics control has requested the scheduling of transport groups to simplify order assignment. Therefore, as part of your planning, please check whether it is worthwhile from a planning perspective to establish transport groups in order to simplify order control and avoid empty runs.
Tip: Before you create the transport groups, take a screenshot of your transport evaluation to compare the utilization and the proportion of empty runs after the change.
Transport groups are always created for transport relations. You can find detailed guidance on transport group creation and additional information in the following article.
Create a transport group for each of the two transport relationships shown in the figure above so that the transport instance "high-rack-forklift" only accepts requests for a certain area. Then assign the corresponding transport requests to the transport groups. The exact procedure is shown in the following graphic. For more detailed information, see the article linked above.
Tip: Filter the transport relations for the appropriate sources and sinks (GoodsIn-HighBayRack, HighBayRack-RouteStation) to assign the appropriate transport relationships to the transport groups.
Then recalculate the transports and compare the utilisation rates and the empty run shares. Was there an improvement and what would be your feedback to operational control.
