Rack planning with the right side-panel
When selecting a rack, it is visualized in the right side-panel. Additional options are provided to help you plan your rack:
- The header contains some basic information about the rack and options for the rack. This includes the assigned station (top left of the header—highlighted in blue) and the name of the rack below it.
On the right side of the header, there is a slider for pinning the shelf in the sidepanel.
Here you can also find the “three dots” icon. This allows you to edit the shelf name, delete the shelf, move it to the area retainer or swap it out for another rack type.
- The utilization of the rack and the side currently being viewed are also displayed. If you switch sides using the corresponding button in the function bar [4], the utilization for that side of the rack will be displayed instead.
- Here you can see a 2D view of the shelf, the individual rack shelves and rack bays, as well as the material stored on them. Material can be selected to obtain further information about it or enable further options - like fixing the material on this spot in the rack. Also, material can be moved between the shelves and bays via drag & drop.
-
The function bar is located below the 2D view. The functions include (from left to right):
Moving the rack into the area retainer, displaying the distance of the rack to other elements in the vicinity, switching the 2D view of the rack between the front and back of the rack, aligning all boxes in the rack as far to the left as possible, aligning all boxes in the rack as far to the right as possible, rotating the selected box 90° to the left, displaying additional information about the rack shelves, and deleting the rack.
-
The individual shelves and information about the material on them are displayed here in greater detail. You can pin the container position on the shelf using “Fix box position,” view the box matrix of the box located there, the number of boxes for the corresponding material, the name of the material, the parts per box, and the dimensions of the box.
The utilization of the shelf is also displayed under “Remaining space in shelf compartment.” The “Z limit value” refers to the generally specified height limit of boxes in the rack.
Under “Show details,” you can view further information about the material in the container; the “three dots” icon allows you to place the box from the rack onto the floor or change the box type.
The "three dots"-menu is also available by directly selecting a box in the rack view.
Rack planning in the 2D-view
In the 2D view, you can see the name and rack type of the displayed rack. Similarly, shelf utilization is displayed via the top bar and the percentage next to it. This is calculated from the sum of the dimensions of all boxes within a rack along the shelf + the distance between adjacent boxes within a shelf / the sum of the widths of all shelves.
When you select the rack, options appear above it in addition to the information in the side panel on the right.
For example, the rack can be rotated 90° to the left or right using the two circular arrows. The “Pin” icon works just like the slider in the side panel on the right and allows you to pin the rack in place in the 2D view.
Use the “three dots” icon to delete the shelf, move it to the area retainer or swap it out for another rack type.
Adding an empty rack
Empty racks can be added to your planning space in two different ways:
-
Via the "three dots"-menu of a material area:
Select “Add rack” to open the resource list in the right side-panel. From there, you can drag and drop each rack type inside your planning space into the 2D-view:
-
Using the “+ Add new rack” button in the rack optimizer:
More information here: Rack optimizer.
Replacing a rack with another from the resource list
After you have selected the option to replace the rack with another one in either the right side panel, the rack optimizer, or the 2D view, the resource list with all of the racks stored in the scenario appears in the right side panel:
[SCREENSHOT RACK SELECTION]
Select the rack type you want to replace the currently selected rack with and confirm your selection.
The old rack has now been replaced in the 2D view, the rack view, and the rack optimizer with the rack type you selected.
Material that is too large for the dimensions of the new rack is automatically moved to the area retainer of the corresponding material area.
