To facilitate the placement of materials on your racks, ipolog 5 also includes the “Rack Optimizer” This provides you with a side-by-side view of selected racks, displaying important information at a glance. It also allows materials to be moved between multiple racks.
Opening the rack optimizer
First select the "Rack optimizer" button via the menu bar on the left:
Then select at least two racks from the 2D view so that another menu bar appears at the bottom of the view:
The number of selected items will be displayed there. You can cancel the selection of racks by clicking on the “X” icon. You can also move the selected racks to the area retainer of the respective material area or open them in the rack optimization view by clicking on the respective buttons.
Select “Open in rack optimizer” to open the rack optimization view.
Working in the rack optimizer
The rack optimizer is structured similarly to the side-panel on the right when selecting a rack. Just like the side-panel view you can delete a rack via the "three dots"-button.
Select “Back” [1] to return to the rack selection. This allows you to add racks to the optimization view at a later stage. The undo/redo function [2] allows you to undo the last change or restore the last change that was undone. Use the “Select all materials” button [4] to select every material within the shelf at the same time. The “Select entire shelf” button [4] selects the shelf including every material in it, allowing you to move the shelf in the rack optimizer view.
You can also add a new shelf to the optimizer later [3].
Material on racks can be moved within one or between several racks using drag & drop.
Adding another rack
Select “+ Add new shelf” and the selection will open:
The upper section displays all material areas located in your planning space. Select one so that selected racks can be placed there later. Under “Search by area name,” you can search for material areas by name.
The lower section lists all rack types from your resources. Select one and then “Add rack” to add the rack to the rack optimizer and place it on the previously selected material area. You can filter the list of racks using “Add filter.” You can filter by name, depth, width, and height.
To add more racks from your planning area, select “Back” in the optimization view and click on the racks you want to add from the 2D view.
Area Retainer
The right side panel displays the area retainers of the areas on which the selected racks are located, except when selecting a new rack:
Material and racks stored there can be transferred to the Rack Optimizer via the side panel on the right or placed back on the material area via the “three dots” icon above the respective element in the retainer.
