Workflow
- Click on the PlugIns View in the menu bar.
- in the Plugins View, click on the menu item "Load DWG Plugin".
- A window with the following functions opens:
- Import Areas
- Export Areas
- Import Layout
- Export Layout
- Click on the "Import Layout" button to import and display the floor plan/factory environment as a 2D drawing template.
- The floor plan is displayed in the catalog, in the Facility catalog tab.
- In the Catalog, please open the Facility tab and insert your factory environment into the 2D and 3D view in ipolog using the "insert" button.
In ipolog WS, you can now create ipolog areas (material, worker , blocking and conveyor) on the floor plan using the Layout Editor.
The final layout can be saved/exported with the function "Save Layout" as a .jsn File. The exported jsn file can be used for further planning in the ipolog 4MF module.
Note: After inserting the layout from the "facilities" catalog element, the folders for the "boxes", "racks", "products" and "facilities" catalog elements are automatically created. In the "facilties" folder you will find a created iv. file and png. Files. These are needed for the import of the module ipolog 4MF.
Import Areas
If you click on "Import Areas", you can import a DWG layout via the Open dialog. The following drawing elements are imported:
- Polylines
- 2D polylines
- Block references with polylines and 2D polylines
After importing the DWG layout, you see a list of all imported drawing elements and can assign one of the following ipolog area types to each drawing element:
- Material Area
- Working Area
- Conveyer Area
- Blocking Area
Export Areas
If you click on "ExportAreas", you can export a DWG layout via the Save dialog. The following drawing elements are exported:
- Polylines
- 2D polylines
- Block references with polylines and 2D polylines
The ipolog area types are exported and can be displayed via the layer "ipolog Area" in ACAD.
Import Layout

Show and hide text elements
You can show and hide drawing elements of the type text and mtext from AutoCAD in the 3D scene in ipolog WS independently as required.
Before you can show and hide the text elements, you have to import a DWG layout and insert it into the ipolog scene (see instructions above).
To show and hide text elements in the global 3D view, please open the view "facilities" in the global menu bar. With the button "T" (Text) you can change the visibility of the text elements.
Possible Errors
- No units are defined in the DWG file
- The coordinate origin is not close to any drawing element.
- Drawing elements to be imported are on a layer which is switched off (Icon light bulb off)
- Drawing elements to be imported are locked or frozen.
- The file name of the dwg.layout contains special characters like < > / \ " : ; ? , * | = `
- The filename of the dwg.layout contains umlauts (ä,ö,ü)
Possibilities for problem solving
Make sure that units are defined in the dwg. layout
Under the AutoCAD symbol, you can check whether units are defined for the layout or not.
Make sure that layers containing the DWG elements to be imported are enabled.
