The "Plugins" module contains tools that can be used to import and export 2D data from AutoCAD and MicroStation.
To do this, first select the "Plugins" module:
And then the "CAD Import" menu item.
| 1 | CAD File |
If you have a .dwg or .dgn file that you would like to upload to ipolog 4 Workspace, you can do so here.
|
| 2 | Facility |
The file uploaded from [1] is displayed here. Use "Add to Catalog" to add it to the catalog. The file can then be added to your project from there. Please note: Only 2D elements can be extracted from the files. |
| 3 | Layout Elements |
If layout elements such as material areas or tags are imported, you can decide whether you want to keep them all (Accept) or discard them all (Discard). You can also view the legend for the "Areas" and "Tags" here - green is an added element, yellow is a changed element, grey is an unchanged element and red is a deleted element. Please note: In order for layout elements to be recognized, Xdata must be linked to the .dwg file. More about this here: Xdata import. |
| 4 | Areas |
Material areas that have been added or changed by the new layout are displayed here. Material areas that have not changed or were contained in the old layout and are now no longer present in the new layout are also displayed, and all contained areas can be accepted or deleted simultaneously via “All” or “None”. The entries can also be filtered according to their attribute (Added, Changed, Unchanged, Removed). |
| 5 | Tags |
Tags that have been added or changed by the new layout are displayed here. Material areas that have not changed or were contained in the old layout and are now no longer present in the new layout are also displayed, and all contained tags can be accepted or deleted simultaneously via “All” or “None”. The entries can also be filtered according to their attribute (Added, Changed, Unchanged, Removed). |
Once you have added the .dwg or .dgn file via "Add to Catalog", you can insert it into your planning area via "Insert":
You can now draw area types (material area, worker area, blocking and conveying areas) on the floor plan in ipolog via the "Layout Editor" module.
Procedure / Workflow
Under the “Plugins” module in ipolog 4 Workspace you will find the option of importing CAD layouts in .dwg-format into ipolog:
You can select your desired .dwg file by clicking on the “CAD import” button. After opening the .dwg file, the metadata of the layout objects attached with Xdata is read and displayed as a preview in the layout views (Layout Editor, MaterialZone Editor and in the 3D scene).
Drawing elements of the “Areas” and “Tags” schema are imported and displayed below the Layout Elements area.
For areas and tags, the following columns (metadata) are displayed:
| Status |
Added: Areas have been added. Changed: Existing area attributes such as size, position or area type are changed. Identical: Existing area attributes and values remain unchanged Removed: Existing areas have been removed. You can also filter according to these four statuses by clicking on the desired status (radio button) |
| Name | The area name or tag name is the attribute used to compare changes to layout statuses. They are used as a unique object identifier. |
| Typ |
For Areas:
For Tags:
|
| Layer | Name of the layer from the .dwg drawing that is assigned to the object. |
| Details | Additional information that is displayed to the user. |
Commit / Cancel
After each import or re-import of a .dwg file, the changes are not applied directly, but are first visualized as a preview in the 3D scene and in the 2D layout views (Layout and MaterialZoneEditor). This preview also serves as a visual diff report.
Green means that new areas have been added (see status: added)
Yellow means that existing areas have been changed, e.g. in their size, position or area type (see status changed)
Red means that existing areas have been removed
You have a total of three options for selecting elements from the Areas or Tags section for inclusion in the layout:
- Checkbox (column *): This allows you to activate / deactivate certain entries
- All: Select all entries
- None: Select no entries
Commit:
If you like to transfer the selected entries to the ipolog layout, click on the Commit button.
As soon as a layout transfer has been carried out, the entries displayed in the list are cleared.
Cancel:
Cancels the transfer process to the layout and loads the last saved data status
Create Facility:
- reads all drawing elements of the imported layout
- creates surrounding geometries that can be inserted and displayed as a facility (template) in the layout.
- created facilities are added to the catalog / facilities tab and can be inserted into the layout with "Insert".
Potential errors
- No units are defined in the DWG file
- The coordinate origin is not close to a drawing element
- Drawing elements to be imported are on a layer that is switched off (light bulb icon off)
- Drawing elements to be imported are locked or frozen
- The file name of the layout contains special characters such as < > / \ " : ; ? , * | = `
- The file name of the layout contains umlauts (ä,ö,ü)
